Just Passing Through

Today we travelled with the rain from Minnesota, passing through Wisconsin to Illinois. We left Owatonna, MN and headed for Zion, Il. Our goal is Illinois State Beach.

We crossed the mighty Mississippi and into Wisconsin. This is the first time that we will travel through a state all in one day. Not to far past the border we stopped in Mauston, WI, tasted some cheese and bought some for later. We had lunch and got back on the road.

Naturally we hit rush hour traffic in Brookfield, WI. Soon after getting through the traffic, we crossed into Illinois.

Illinois State Beach is just across the border in Illinois. At one intersection we saw Illinois State Line to the right and Wisconsin State Line to the left. What state were we in?

We set up camp and headed down to the beach to see Lake Michigan.

We had some dinner and hid in the trailer to get away from the mosquitos.

How do people in this area deal with the mosquitos? We are just dying with mosquito bites.

While the mosquitos are bad, the fireflies are good. The same bushes harboring the mosquitos also have many fireflies. We are all delighted to see them.
