LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this quilt! Tuesday I attended a class offered by our Quilt Guild described only as "Gentle Curves" . Kind of a mystery quilt, just bring 50 or 85 6.5" squares.
Diane taught us how to make a quilt she calls "Fractured Circles". Kind of a wonky Drunkards Path. Free hand curve. Put it together in whatever orientation you want. Due to the free form nature of the blocks, I was able to make 119 during the class. Put on a movie that evening and squared them all up. Laid them all out yesterday, sewed them together, ran to Jo-Anns to pick up the sashing/borderfabric (I didn't have anything that would work, if you can believe that), put the sashing/borders on. Today I quilted and bound it. SUPER EASY quilt. I LOVE IT!!!
Someone at the class said Juanita and I should bring our finished quilts to "bring and brag" at guild next week. I took it as sort of a challenge to get it done. Wasn't a challenge at all. A quilt like this in three days? Not a problem, when I'm not working or trying to keep the quilting machine running with Binkys.
I so very much want to make another. I quilted it with an E2E pattern "Flourish" by Keryn Emmerson, but I can so see a bunch of feathers and freehand work done on a quilt like this. This quilt spoke to me. This is the first quilt to speak to me. Now I need to make another so I can freehand quilt it and answer its call!
