Machine Quilting Services

Pricing for Machine Quilting Services is calculated by square inch measurement (length x width) of quilt top.  The price does not include batting, backing, binding, binding services, or shipping.  Rate is dependent upon complexity of quilting.

Use the guidelines below to estimate the cost of having your top quilted.  I'm happy to calculate a free estimate for your unique quilt top.

Minimum quilting charge of $35 for any quilt size.

Many pantograph and freehand designs available.  View a small sampling here.

Basic all over design $.015 per square inch

Large meander or loops or basic "Edge to Edge" pantograph designs

Advanced all over design $.018 per square inch

Two quilting designs or border designs, or more detailed pantograph designs

Custom quilting $.025 to $.04 per square inch

Custom quilting includes block patterns, stitch in the ditch, stencils, outlines, sashings, and custom patterns.

Extra charges for thread color changes, specialty threads, quilts that need to be rotated to complete quilting design (large quilts and separate border designs), multiple quilting designs, easing fullness, and/or pressing backing or quilt top.

Binding Services

Binding service is 12 cents ($.12) per linear inch (perimeter of quilt).  Binding service includes preparation of binding (cutting, stitching, pressing), and sewing binding to quilt by machine.  Binding will be double fold, machine stitched to back, folded, and machine stitched to front of quilt.  Binding service is 10 cents per linear inch for binding preparation and machine stitching to front of quilt for you to hand stitch binding to back of quilt.

You are responsible for providing binding fabric of your choice, pre-washed and pressed.

How to Prepare your Quilt

Trim all loose threads, stray threads can show through.  Press quilt top and backing.  Please stay stitch 1/4" around all edges if your quilt has bias edges.  Do not baste, pin, or tack the quilt and backing together.  Please indicate the top of your quilt  and backing with a safety pin. Be aware that fullness and puckers that have been pieced in cannot be "quilted out".  I will ease them in as well as I can.  Cut backing and batting to 8 inches wider and 10 inches longer than your quilt top.  You are responsible for providing backing and batting of your choice.  Backing should be pre-washed and pressed.  Remove selvage edges from backing seams to reduce bulk.  If backing requires piecing, horizontal seams are better than vertical.  While bed sheets can be used for the backing, the weave is very dense and often causes skipped stitches.  Use at your own risk.

Prices subject to change.
