And so it begins...

Today my mail carrier brought lovely things to my door...in the pouring down rain.  I have the best mail carrier and no I won't share her with you unless you live in my neighborhood.  She really looks out for us.  I'm so grateful.

Quilters are the best kind of people.  If someone puts the word out where there is a need and a way to fill that need, quilters respond.  We have our connections all lined up to get blankets to the children of Japan.  The Air Force pilot will carry blankets onto the plane when he is sent there to bring supplies and he will deliver the blankets to a cousin who is in the Army stationed in Japan and can get the blankets to the children who need them.  The pilot is going to ask other pilots if they will bring quilts too.  They are making many supply runs over there so if they bring a bag of quilts each time we should be able to get quite a few over there.  We are shooting for 300-500.  You can follow the progress on my friend Marilyn's blog here.

IMGP9584These two fleece blankets came from Collene and Shelby in Santa Rosa in response to the call for blankets for the children of Japan.  Binky Patrol is all about blankets, any kind of blankets.  My personal preference is to quilt but we have ladies who make fleece blankets, crocheted blankets, knitted blankets, receiving blankets, etc.  Any kind of blanket, we'll find a child who needs it.  Thank you Collene and Shelby!

This card came from Mary in San Jose.  Mary has been a long distance supporter of our Quilt Days for Binky Patrol.  She knows this card will go a long way toward batting and thread for our project.  We hit the sales and use the coupons to make the most of it.  Thank you Mary!

This stack of fabric was delivered by Sandra.  Sandra and her daughter Maddie have been at just about every Quilt Day I have hosted, sewing, sewing, sewing away all day.  These fabrics came from Maddie's grandmother Margie in Seattle WA.  Margie works for "In the Beginning" fabrics.  Sandra forwards my Quilt Day email messages up to Margie and Margie sent some fabrics for our cause.  Thank you Sandra, Maddie, and Margie!
