This was on and off my design wall this last week. Completed pretty quickly. Here is what I started with a couple weeks ago. My sister donated the pieces. I have no idea what she intended to do with it (or maybe did with other parts of it). Prairie points were already done and center checkerboard was already done. I thought it might end up to be a table runner of sorts, but by the time I finished putting the pieces together I decided it would be just the right size for a diaper bag quilt. The program Binky Patrol donates to through the hospital gives new moms a diaper bags full of supplies.
I freehand quilted curvy squares in the checkerboard center and left the borders unquilted. Wasn't sure how to work around the prairie points so I just left it fluffy!
I'm having so much fun playing with my larger quilting machine. The amount of Binkys I was able to quilt in February was phenomenal! I did more in a week than I had done in an entire month before! Then I had work days so I was only able to quilt three last week.
Field trips (work) are done for about a month now. Timing is perfect. I'm going to need to quilt many quilts in the next few weeks. We have a connection (Air Force pilot) that can get quilts to Japan for us. Our Vacaville Binky chapter is going to send as many Binkys as we can get together to wrap the Japanese children in need with a quilted hug. Can you help? Send quilts, tops, and/or fabric and we will get them to the kids who need them. I'm hosting Quilt Day on Wed March 23 and Sun March 27. I can send you more information if you want to join us.
