Disappearing Four Patch

IMGP8997Okay, I couldn't wait... Marilyn is looking for quilt patterns using only 2 fabrics and someone directed her to Sew Wonderful's Disappearing Four Patch.  I kept looking at that pattern and thought "There has to be an easier way..."  I figured it out!  I told her I would post directions as soon as I could figure out how to write them down.  Turns out it is much easier to write directions when you can let the photos do the talking for you!

For a 40"x60" child's quilt, you need 48" (plus fudge room) of two fabrics.  Cut (8) 4.5" strips WOF and (8) 1.5" strips WOF of each fabric.  This will make 24 blocks.

Sew strips together 4.5", 1.5", 1.5", 4.5" in alternating fabrics.  Press seam allowances all one direction.

Cut this set into (6) 4.5" widths and (6) 1.5" widths.

Sew sections together 4.5", 1.5", 1.5", 4.5", alternating the direction of the fabrics.  Because you pressed all your seam allowances one direction and you flip flop the sections, all the seams should match up perfectly, setting into each other.

IMGP9001A finished block, pretty busy with that stripe.  I only have one finished because this is not what I NEED to be working on this evening, but it sure did go together quickly while I kept the Chilean Miner's Rescue on the Internet.  Two miners up, three rescuers down, third miner on his way up.

I'll post pics of the finished top when I get to it.
