Rail Fence Quilt

shariSo this isn't exactly on my design wall today.  It is the design for a quilt I made for my girlfriend's wedding.  Couldn't post until after the wedding at the end of September. Then my webpage server was down and I couldn't post until now.

I used Omnigraffle to design it.  I usually use graph paper, but with this one I wanted to play with turning the blocks this way and that until I came up with something unique and interesting. It was much easier to do that in a graphing program.

IMGP8987Been busy with other things too.  Our oldest daughter has Type 1 Diabetes, so this is our team picture for our Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraiser we did on October 2.

IMGP8988Received a phone call from Marilyn to meet her at our local Quilt Shop A Quilted Heart as they wanted to donate fabric for our Binky Patrol project and the San Bruno Fire Survivors.  They donated 10 bolts of fabric to us.  I came home with these and Marilyn has the other 6 bolts.

IMGP8990Worked on this denim quilt for the tent trailer.  My mom had given me these blocks of denim already precut.  I think she said she picked them up at Daisy Kingdom.  Figured this would be a good, durable, heavy, warm quilt to keep in the trailer.  Something I wouldn't worry about wearing around the campfire or throwing on the ground for a cover.  My sister was clearing out her flannel sheets, and of course I said I'd use them.  One of those will go on the back of this.

IMGP8993The pressing I need to do, piled up on the mangle.  Since it uses so much energy just to heat it, I tend to save up my pressing to do it all at one time.  Recognize the basket weave quilts on the bottom of the pile?  All the basket weaves are tops now.  Just need to get them quilted!
